Kim Alpert

Kim Alpert is a Media Artist and Creative Strategist working in Chicago, IL USA.

Known for performing live improvisational video systems, music, and poetry, Alpert works with a range of material from archival films, home videos, and analog synthesis. Alpert’s multimedia work spans printed material, projections, performances, recordings, installations and ephemera. Kim is an alumni resident of Chicago Art Department and Signal Culture. Alpert’s practice focuses on collaborations with musicians and dancers/movers that embrace spontaneity. Kim’s aim is to create meaningful experiences both in the process of creation as well as for each viewer and audience.

Alpert’s work has been presented at The Art Institute of Chicago, Symphony Center, SOFA Expo, The Stony Island Arts Bank, The Walker Art Center, Roulette Intermedium, Bimhuis, and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, as well as numerous alternative art spaces, galleries, and festivals internationally. Alpert’s work has been featured with a range of artists from Mike Reed, Ken Vandermark, claire rousay, Chris Corsano, Makaya McCraven, jaimie branch, Rob Mazurek, to Matt Lux.

Alpert holds degrees in Digital Art & Design from Full Sail University and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2013. Kim created the interactive installation “Bodyphonic” – a gesture-driven instrument and longitudinal sound visualizer – is part of the permanent collection at Studio Bell, National Music Center of Canada.
