“Jamie Saft and I first played together in 1992. After a long gap we reconnected in 2011 and began producing a series of recordings, changing our instruments and the direction we take with each one, adding musicians we know and admire to our collaboration with the goal of making unique music in every new situation. Other recordings feature Wadada Leo Smith, Joe McPhee, Mats Gustufsson, Mike Pride, Charles Downs, Mary Halvorson, Gerald Cleaver, Herb Robertson, Bobby Previte, Balazs Pandi, Chris Lightcap, and Trevor Dunn. This one adds the master drummer Reggie Nicholson, a Chicago native who is a renowned 2nd wave member of the AACM where he was mentored by the legendary Steve McCall. Reggie has performed and recorded with too many greats to mention here they include Henry Threadgill, Max Roach, Muhal Richard Abrams and Anthony Braxton. Considering his tremendous playing, and his vast and diverse experience it’s fair to say that Reggie is one of the greatest drummers and improvisers in the world.
