Description
Heaven Hill Fragmentarium is a Norwegian improvisational trio based in Trondheim, initiated and led by the young double bassist and baritone guitarist Nicolas Leirtrø.
With the two legends Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on electric bass and electronics, and Ståle Storløkken on synthesizers, hammond organ and electronics, they together form the supertrio that is Heaven Hill Fragmentarium. The members are known from a handful of outstanding projects such as Supersilent, Elephant9, Terje Rypdal, Atomic, The Thing, Exit: Knarr, I LIKE TO SLEEP, Dafnie, Mats Gustafsson’s Hidros 9 etc.
Their music is freely improvised but with a strong sense of composition and narrative, almost sounding like stories sewn together by fragments of bubble jackets, space travels, garden parties and ancient balloons. With a unique sound palette and an enormous range, Heaven Hill Fragmentarium chops up rhythmic motifs, noise and melodies, blending them into a monstruos and sometimes beautiful fresh take on improvised music.
