Black Cat Mountain is a special album. It’s a recording of the first musical meeting between drummer Paal Nilssen-Love and pianist Jonas Cambien, at Blow Out! Festival in Oslo in 2020, released on 10” Vinyl in a limited edition of 300 copies, with all artwork made by hand by Paal and Jonas, DIY style. That means 300 different album covers made with spray-paint and collage using cassette tape, broken vinyl records, tea-bags, dried fish, stage tape, old posters and magazines, and much more. All copies are numbered and signed. The vinyls themselves are in different colors: some are green, some are white.
The music is an exploratory and explosive meeting, full of creative and playful twists, all improvised on drums, piano, melodica and soprano sax. Back in 2020 an extremely welcome blowout in the midst of a world in lockdown, and after five years, finally available on vinyl.
