Sylvie Courvoisier / Mary Halvorson
"This debut recording between two of New York’s most idiosyncratic and distinctive improvisers reveals just what careful listeners pianist Sylvie Courvoisier and guitarist Mary Halvorson really are. Each musician contributed pieces to the album, which is deeply chamber-like in its deft, interactive intimacy. But the real action is where they take those written themes. - Peter Margasak"
Sylvie Courvoisier / Ned Rothenberg / Julian Sartorius
"Without a leader, and enlisting compositions from all the three members, this music reflects the present pandemic context, as the title, “Lockdown”, clearly suggests. There’s a reflexive and introspective approach all along, with exquisite writing serving the collective improvisations and enabling lots of space for each musician to develop his/her own ideas. "
Birdies for Lulu
Sylvie Courvoisier Mark Feldman Quartet with Scott Colley and Billy Mintz
"This music possesses a striking beauty, even when it appears to be trying for a different effect. This in itself is a remarkable achievement, but that it’s also so damn accessible and easy to connect with just makes it that much more impressive. - Bird is the Worm"
Sylvie Courvoisier Trio
""There is abundant creativity here, but it is channeled so skillfully that it never feels gratuitous or self-indulgent. It is just another ideal opportunity for three masters to display their craft in close communication and genuine rapport." - Troy Dostert, All About Jazz "
Sylvie Courvoisier Trio
"With her high-quality trio with Drew Gress and Kenny Wollesen, Sylvie Courvoisier presents her eleventh album on Intakt Records: Intakt CD 300. In both her playing and her composition she shows neoclassical influences mixed with European improvised music and the experimental nonconformismof the New York downtown scene."
